Ordered lunch this time (breakfast stops at 11- which is a little earlier than I'm used to). We ordered the catfish shrimp and grits. That dish was very tasty, but a little on the salty side. The grits were delicious! They were creamy and not bland. The portobello sandwich was not as good. The mushroom could have been marinated more and they put it on a croissant which made it a soggy mushy mess. Overall, our lunch was mediocre, but the staff was extremely friendly.

Everything I've ordered is delicious. From the cappuccinos to danish. The French Toast is my favorite breakfast meal.

I see why this place is so popular. The breakfast/brunch is good. It's just that easy. Friendly service from a waitress who didn't seem to mind that I was tying up a four-top after eating for a good hour and a half, though I moved on once the place filled up and mine was the last table. I opted for the French Toast, which arrived quickly. Two thick slices of soft bread, slightly crisped from cooking, and very tasty. The big bowl of syrup was way more than I needed by at least double and that's even after I asked them to hold off on the powdered sugar. Coffee is self-service (after the first cup when you're brought your filled mug) and this is okay. I was able to get more coffee when I wanted more coffee. Easy. Parking can be busy on the Saturday morning when the Farmer's Market is in session but if you look, you will find.

Quaint. The shop is quite rustic and fits the style of St. Andrews area. I had the best cinnamon bun with cream ever, made me want to slap my mother. I even called her and asked her to slap herself ;) j/k. The ladies there took the time to help me decide on breakfast options that are healthier but tasty. Ended up unhealthy and DELICIOUS. Gonna come back with the family for a meal soon.

Due to mixed reviews on Yelp, I almost didn't come here. After I arrived, I found out the ownership changed a few months ago. My experience here was great in every respect. There's lots of comfortable seating and adequate electrical outlets. The outside temperature was near freezing when I came in, and I was happy to see a cheery fire in the fireplace. As I walked closer, I realized it's an electric heater that just looks like a fire. The effect is pleasant, and I appreciated the warmth. The menu has good selections, and the prices are reasonable. I enjoyed an excellent latte and a delicious breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and an English muffin. The total cost was $11 including tax. The service was fast and friendly.

Ok. I've had a few breakfast meals since my last review and this was the outcome: 1.) I opted for french toast breakfast. I always keep my meal flat in the car when traveling any amount of distance. By the time I got to my work, parked & sat @ my desk (under 10 minutes), both of the syrup containers were open & had saturated the french toast to liquification. After a couple bites to confirm the sorry state of the french toast - I ended up throwing it out. The syrup also tasted disgusting; I couldn't tell you exactly what was wrong about it - it just "wasn't right"... worse than maple tree sweat, or something. Anyhow, french toast requiring a spoon, rather than a fork, to consume is not for me. If you're into that... you're going to love it!! Side note: I called the order in, to save time, & was told that it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived 12 minutes after my order was placed (so 3 minutes before it was supposed to be ready), & there seemed to be a running, inside joke with the staff & a patron that it had "been there so long" that the patron said she was going to eat it. If I'm early - how long has this disaster been sitting there for others to think its owner had abandoned it?! 2.) Thought I'd give the french toast another shot, so I ordered again the following morning. I asked the person on the phone to "make sure that the lids are on tight, because they popped off & made the french toast inedible". I also told her that I had to "throw out the meal since it was too gross to eat". This time I was told that it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived in 10 minutes, as requested, & had to wait for another 10 once I got there. Long story short, got the meal to my office, the lids were on tight. I tried a couple bites of the french toast & found that it wasn't the exploded syrups that destroyed my french toast to unpalatability yesterday - that's the way the french toast was cooked. I don't know if they soak the bread in the egg solution too long, use bread that it too thin - or a combination of both - but eww. Again, if liquefied french toast is up your alley, then you're going to love it. If you enjoy your french toast prepared & cooked properly - then look elsewhere. 3.) For what I think will be my last meal here, I ordered the trusty ham, egg & cheese on a croissant sandwich with a side of the home-fries (refuse to call them "famous" - mine are better). I found it odd that I had trouble cutting through the croissant, I took a bite and found I couldn't bite through it - it was too tough, like jerky. Then, a couple bites in, I was met with a unpleasant spoiled/rancid oil type of taste in my mouth... and thought "is that why I can't bite through the croissant; because it's too old... or is it the meat?". I was scared of having a tummy ache from eating turned food, so I threw the rest of the meal out. 4.) I hate it when any establishment does not give you an itemized receipt, especially when it "seems" like I'm being charged too much. Based on experience, I often find that things are rung up wrong - but how could you here, because you're just told what to pay. For example: their menu - both online & in-house - says that their ham, egg & cheese sandwich (whether on on bagel or croissant) is $4.99. However when I was able to sneak a peek at the order slip, I saw I was charged extra fees here & there - the one I was able to see was an extra $0.50 fee for having my sandwich w/ a croissant. Nowhere does it state, on any of their menus, that there is an extra $0.50 charge for choosing a croissant. Check for yourself and see! This type of shady behavior drives me nuts. I know it's not much, but how long have they been charging me extra fees like this? On my last visit, when I asked for a receipt, the three people behind the counter (one of whom I believe to be the owner) looked at me as if I asked them all to dance on the counter for me! The receipt they managed to rustle up was uber lame, and much like the other receipts they give you - with the date, the amount paid, & how you paid - nothing itemized. 5.) The person whom I believed to be the owner, seemed insufferably cheap. Just in the few minutes I was there, he was chewing someone's butt about ordering items that didn't need to be ordered. (Why is he butt-chewing his employees in front of customers?) Then he promptly turned around when he heard the cashier say that the front was out of napkins - & snapped "Hey! Come on! Easy on the napkins!" (Seriously? "Easy on the napkins"?!) She explained that she needed napkins for the take out orders, & he said "it's ok, just easy on the napkins". Scrooges like this make me concerned about other things that may be happening to save a buck, behind the scenes. The owner, like their french toast, will leave a bad taste in your mouth, so buyer beware. If it wasn't for their kick-butt coffee, I would vote NO stars. I noticed that the coffee is pricier than Starbucks... so head's up.

My three experiences here, all for lunch, have been very nice. There were at least two people eating at each visit, so the variety of food was covered. I had the muffaletta and seafood chowder, both very good! Also the pastrami wrap and chicken Florentin soup were good, each on separate visits. However, the Ahi Tuna with mixed greens was very good. Mostly due to the great blend of tastes with the citris dressing on the greens and the pecans add a great taste for this tuna. My last meal for two with 3 beers, Lemon pie and a mocha espresso to go was $41.87.

Like anything in Life, good taste is a matter of opinion. This establishment has a relaxing , old world charm.. You can sit down, read a book, free WiFi - a gathering place where old friends come to pass the morning , languidly, where the pace is slower, it is St. Andrews ! and have a cup of coffee with free refills.. Pretty good breakfast too ! Closes @ 2pm .. Try it ...

They order their coffee from a NC roaster and it's very great coffee/espresso drinks. They offer many drink types like fraps and iced, latee' etc, however they need to work on consistently good recipes for their coffee/espresso drinks. Mine are not always good due to not tasty amounts of mild and syrup ratio. Their roasted pepper soup is great. They have slow service when busy because only two ladies run the show. They get grumpy when busy and lack that consistently friendly service perk. It's cute inside the coffeehouse. Their baked items seem overpriced and not amAaazing because I've had better, but they are homemade. Their bread is ordered from Sysco Food Service and that is weird because a cafe should bake their own bread in my opinion. I'm a foodie who has traveled the country and have been exposed to the best though. Try their breakfasts!

I have always loved St. Andrews Coffee House...its a great place to pick up a gift for the chocolate lover, you can always fine something unique for sure. What I love best is that that are open late and you can swing by after dinner or a movie. They don't only have all the chocolate you can imagine but ice cream and cakes by the slice. Much better than the boring traditional expensive dessert at the restaurant.

Great locally owned little restaurant/bistro/coffee shop. Recently changed hands but still maintains the quaint charming atmosphere that makes it so beloved by the community. Definitely a wonderful place to have breakfast with a friend, or a light lunch after shopping and browsing the St. Andrews businesses. Reasonably priced and everything tastes homemade and fresh. The coffee is strong and "real" tasting...not syrupy Starbucks stuff. Give them a try! Their menu and daily specials are online at their website, standrewscoffeehouse.com

This coffeehouse is unique, yet everything about it says it's the coffeehouse you already know. The desserts are excellent too.

First of all, both the chai and the wifi were great here, so I'm not sure what the low review for this place was talking about. If anything, the chai had more spice than I am used to. The choco-chai was fantastic as well, with a great spicy kick at the end (like Mexican hot chocolate with an Indian flair). The service was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the decor was adorable and comfortable. The sign outside calls this gem "a community gathering place," and that is a perfect description. My friend and I enjoyed our tea and coffee over a game of checkers and relaxed for a couple of hours. It was a wonderful way to spend a hot summer morning. Love this hidden treasure!

Good coffee, good prices, good people. Beautiful park nearby. And no hipster jerks behind the counter. LOVE.

Had breakfast there this morning and the food was delicious. The staff did an excellent job with the number of people. Great selection of coffee. The food was priced well.

Service was very friendly. The two issues I had were that my iced chai pretty much just tasted like cold milk with cinnamon in it. I've had many iced chai at many coffee shops and none like this. Yes, milk is an ingredient, but there is a bit more to it than that. I could have overlooked the chai and ordered something else next time if they had wi-fi. Unfortunately, as I am looking for a place to take my computer and quietly work on homework or other things online, I won't be back to St. Andrews Coffee House.
